Moata Raya of Mecota Trading , the exporter for our incoming shipment of Ethiopia coffee, has been sending through some profiles of the farmers that have grown and processed these coffees.
Tefese Ta’u’s farm is located in the village of Hora Ela, of the Chiri district in Sidamo. Here Tefese cultivates the 74110 and 74112 varietals intercropped with false banana and other fruit trees.
When harvest time comes around, Tefese and his family pick ripe cherries by hand before laying them out to dry on raised beds for approximately 15 days. This coffee is then milled locally in Chiri, before being delivered to Addis Ababa for export.
