Francisco Mandlate from Agrotur in Mozambique has been in touch to let us know that he will be sending over two more coffee samples:
- “Is natural dried. Is our original project. This coffee produced in agroforest system, intercroped with fruit trees (pineapple, banana, citrus, guava, etc), crops (maize, vegetables, beans, peanuts, etc) and native forest species and honey. Is organic coffee.
- Is full washed, produced in other terroir, 50 km away from the first. This produced started the production alone and they're not doing organic and agroforest system. Is normal production.”
The original samples we received from Agrotur contained strangely bloated beans that didn’t cup as well as we’d hoped. After feeding this back to Francisco, he told us that those were beans from earlier in the harvest, and that the coffee produced later in the season is much better.
Even if the quality is different from last year though, we’re still hoping to buy from Agrotur and support their continued development.
