‘My name is Muhindo Bas, I am an Agricultural Officer of Agri Evolve and a student at Martyrs University in Kampala. I do quality control at the factory and I am also a buyer of coffee.’
‘I am very eager to learn. Kyagalanyi and Agri Evolve teach me a lot about the certification processes. I learn about the do’s and don’ts of the Utz and Rainforrest Alliance procedures and regulations.’
‘I am lucky to combine practice and theory. My parents have a coffee farm, I study Agriculture and I work here with certification and quality control, so it is a win-win situation for me.
‘I am proud we are a farmer based organization. The coffee price is transparent, we train the farmers as much as possible and we are open for discussion. For instance, farmers call us if they have questions about pests and other diseases, or if they have produce to sell and they ask us to pick up the coffee.’
‘We have many youths here working that were unemployed before.’
‘I live here with my parents and family for all my life, I see the impact of this factory on the community. It is not just one person that profits, it is the community.
‘I am an ambitious person and I am determined to achieve my dreams.’
